Accounting, Financial,
and Operations Management

1. Accounting and Tax Services

The OHADA accounting system (SYSCOHADA) is the set of provisions governing the organization and keeping of accounts of companies established in the Democratic Republic of Congo – Parties, to strengthen analyses of the performance and financial perspectives of companies to inform decisions on management, investment, and granting of credits and finally enable said companies to provide reliable accounting and financial data.

Congo River Consulting assists companies in the implementation in their accounts of the new OHADA repository in a new presentation of individual and consolidated accounts comprising succinctly: general provisions, accounting organization, annual financial statements, rules of evaluation and determination of results, the probative value of documents, auditing of accounts, collection, and publication of accounting information.

We also offer our assistance in matters of tax advice, more specifically in the tax treatment of accounting and financial transactions, actual tax declarations to the State, and the various forms of tax adjustment relating to that such as tax filling in the USA and the DRC.

2. Financial Analysis and Risk Management

Congo River Consulting handles a variety of complex responsibilities, which are as follows:

  • To assist in the planning and development of the budget, ensuring adherence with the standard rules, regulations, and laws
  • To gather and collect the financial information and data to prepare, recommend, and predict future financial planning and operations
  • To conduct and perform technical analysis of the financial data and information, coordinate, and compile it to make the relevant presentations
  • To be involved in handling the complex projects that require an in-depth evaluation
  • To perform effective financial reporting and develop business processes and standards that comply with the organization’s policies, procedures, and standards
  • To research, analyse, and interpret the financial information to study the variances, review and present it to the management to enable better decision making

We assist companies in their in-depth financial analysis in guiding medium and long-term decision perspectives. Indeed, the diagnosis consists of studying the company’s financial situation to highlight its strengths and weaknesses, therefore leading to proposals for effective remedies; nor can it be limited to the study of a past situation and must integrate a prospective dimension. Therefore, it is inseparable from the measurement of future risks incurred by the company; therefore, it is a prerequisite for making any financial decision.

Thus, we proceed to the realization of this activity in two main stages:

  • Study of the retrospective financial diagnosis: a study of companies’ financial statements and possible restatements of accounting information from a financial perspective, static and dynamic financial analysis.
  • Prospective dimension of the financial diagnosis: the principles of updating and capitalization useful for financial decisions, the choice of investments, and finally, the establishment of financial forecasts and financing choice.

As part of the facilitation of new foreign entrepreneurs (Anglo-Saxons in particular) wanting to invest in the Democratic Republic, we can offer them the translation service of their financial documents that they can bring to our country so that they are better understood. and ultimately allow their penetration into the Congolese market.

We help refine your ideas and strategies and mold them into a viable business. We challenge your assumptions, fill gaps in your thinking, do lots of independent research and analysis, and help formulate business models, tactics, and strategies.

Our M&A client service focuses on several priorities:

  • Portfolio transformation. Evidence suggests that static portfolios underperform. In contrast, active owners use programmatic M&A and selective divestitures to shift their portfolios toward better industry exposure and assets continually. The best keep moving. We help clients do that wisely and effectively.
  • Seamless end-to-end delivery. From strategy and capital planning through the final steps of integration execution, we help clients identify the best path to shareholder value.
  • Translating strategy into action. Few companies align their strategy and M&A program sufficiently. We help companies make these links explicitly and translate this into clear blueprints for making deals (acquisitions and separations).
  • Flawless execution. Glitches can occur at any point in a transaction or during integration or separation. We help clients spot hurdles early—and clear them.
  • Capturing insights. We help clients refine their deal-making approaches over time to reflect their unique context.
